PHILADELPHIA (April 30, 2025) – SEPTA is ready for the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run this Sunday, May 4 with extra service and free rides for registered participants on the Broad Street Line [B].
Broad Street Run
Every registered competitor can ride the Broad Street Line [B] for free to the starting line at Broad Street and West Fisher Avenue, located between Olney Transit Center and Logan Station. Express trains will depart NRG Station beginning at 4:30 a.m. Free rides for registered runners are available on the BSL before and after the race until noon. Participants must display their 2025 official race bib with their competitor number to ride for free.
Race participants can take advantage of early morning service on the Glenside Combined Regional Rail Line to Fern Rock Station Transportation Center and either walk to the start or transfer to the Broad Street Line. Regional Rail Lines information can be found on septa.org.
Riders taking PATCO into Philadelphia from New Jersey can take the Broad Street Line [B] to get to the Broad Street Run. Exit PATCO at 12th/13th & Locust Street Station. Take the escalator or stairs to concourse level, exit PATCO’s fare gates and follow signs to exit to street level. Head north on S. 13th Street toward St. James Street, then left onto Walnut Street. SEPTA’s Walnut/Locust Station is on the corner of Broad & Walnut Streets.
Health & Wellness Expo
SEPTA will have a booth at the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run Health & Wellness Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3.
Detour Information
SEPTA is encouraging customers to check septa.org/alerts as dozens of bus routes operating on, across and around Broad Street in parts of North Philadelphia, Center City and South Philadelphia will be altered due to road closures and detours that will be in place for the race. Detours are expected to start at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Sunday. SEPTA will resume regular service as soon as possible after the race.
