SEPTA Ready With Extra Service for Phillies Home Opener

Citadel Credit Union Will Sponsor Free Rides Home from NRG Station at the Sports Complex

PHILADELPHIA (March 28, 2024) – SEPTA is ready for the start of the 2024 Phillies season, with extra service set for Friday’s home opener. And to accommodate fans post-game, Citadel Credit Union is sponsoring free rides home from NRG Station on the Broad Street Line.

The Broad Street Line offers convenient and frequent service right to Citizens Bank Park’s doorstep via the NRG Station at the Sports Complex. In addition to regularly scheduled trains that run every eight minutes or less, SEPTA will run five additional express trips before the Phillies-Braves home opener, which starts at 3:05 p.m. These extra trips will run at 1:32 p.m., 1:42 p.m., 1:56 p.m., 2:08 p.m., and 2:21 p.m.

“We are looking forward to a great Phillies season, and SEPTA is excited to be in the center of all the action,” said SEPTA CEO and General Manager Leslie S. Richards. “For opening day and throughout the season, we are encouraging fans to take advantage of the convenient, affordable, and safe travel options that SEPTA offers.”

“As a Greater Philadelphia community credit union, Citadel is excited to be a part of providing free rides for local fans to enjoy the home opener, and we’re looking forward to celebrating another great season” said Citadel President & CEO Bill Brown.

Getting to the Game

The Broad Street Line provides convenient connections to other SEPTA services, including free transfers from the Market-Frankford Line and City Trolleys at 15th Street/City Hall. It’s just a short walk from Regional Rail stations in Center City. It also connects to bus routes that provide service throughout the city and region, and it’s easily accessible from the PATCO High Speed Line for riders from South Jersey.

Convenient Ways to Pay

Customers are encouraged to use a SEPTA Key Card for ease of travel throughout the system. In addition, on buses, subways, and trolleys, customers can use contactless payment options including credit and debit cards, and Apple, Google and Samsung Pay. Simply tap your preferred method of payment at the turnstile or fare box and enjoy the ride.

On Regional Rail, customers can use credit, debit cards along with smart phones to purchase Quick Trip tickets from conductors and buy tickets from vending machines at Center City Stations. For ease-of-travel, customers who are riding Regional Rail are encouraged to load funds onto a SEPTA Key Card before they travel.

Multi-rider feature

SEPTA’s new Multi-Rider feature is available for travel in all modes and allows up to five passengers traveling together to pay with a single SEPTA Key Card. To do this, the multiple-passenger option must be activated by calling (855) 567-3782.
