Average daily ridership in May 2025 was 768,291 unlinked passenger trips across all modes.
System-wide ridership increased 7% from May 2024. On average there were 47,311 more trips per day in May 2025 compared to May 2024.
All modes experienced an increase in ridership relative to this time last year.
SEPTA Metro ridership expanded by 15% relative to May 2024 with a total ridership of 280,096. Metro includes all heavy rail (B, L, and M) and all trolley routes. The B and the L continue to experience strong year over year growth and are a driving factor in system-wide growth.
Trolley ridership increased by 13% or 6,806 unlinked trips per weekday relative to May 2024. Ridership increased 21% on Saturdays and increased 36% on Sundays.
Regional Rail ridership has grown by 7% or approximately 5,405 additional passengers relative to this time last year. There were approximately 84,666 unlinked trips per weekday.
Weekday bus ridership experienced modest gains of 1% or approximately 5,413 unlinked trips per weekday however Saturday ridership has grown 11% and Sunday ridership has grown 17% relative to this time last year. Saturday and Sunday bus ridership is at its highest level in five years. Sunday ridership has exceeded the May 2019 average daily totals.
The five routes with the strongest year over year growth by total number of trips include Route 3 (1,005), Route 47 (788), Roue 40 (739), Route 42 (673), and Route 21 (535).
The five routes with the strongest year over year growth by percent change include: Route 107 (38%), Route 35 (32%), L1 Owl (27%), Route 311 (17%), and Route 118 (16%).
