Ridership: July 2026

System-wide ridership in July 2026 increased by 1.7% from July 2025. Ridership growth was driven by a 3.5% increase on bus as well as several special events around the city. Fourth of July festivities, a FIFA World Cup match, the MLB Home Run Derby, and MLB All-Star Game resulted in very high ridership on the B and increases system-wide. SEPTA moved 26,119 passengers out of NRG Station following the France vs Paraguay World Cup match on July 4!

Average daily ridership in July 2026 was 680,553 unlinked trips across all modes which is down 7% from June 2026. July is typically the lowest ridership month of the year. The highest ridership day of the month was Wednesday, July 22 with 741,594 trips system-wide. This was driven by mild weather and the Dodgers vs Phillies match-up at Citizens Bank Park.

Bus ridership increased 3.5% or 11,937 unlinked trips relative to this time last year. Bus ridership on weekends continued to grow. Saturday ridership jumped by 4.9% and Sunday ridership grew by 8.7%. July 2026 represents the fourth consecutive month of year-on-year ridership growth for bus. Bus ridership increased to 52.3% of the total compared to 51.4% last year.

Metro ridership increased 0.2% or 383 unlinked trips relative to this time last year. There was no Trolley Blitz this summer which reduced the number of trips on the L while also increasing the number of trips on the T.

Trolley ridership was up for the first time in over a year. Ridership growth was driven by a 17% increase in T ridership. This growth was the result of not having a Trolley Blitz this year.

Regional Rail experienced jumps in ridership for Fourth of July as well as MLB All-Star Week but ridership decreased by 0.9% or 745 trips relative to this time last year.

Thanks for riding!
