Center City Open Streets Bus Detours & Road Closures, April and May

Center City District is hosting Open Streets on West Walnut Street on Sundays through May 17, from 10 am to 5 pm. Pedestrians are welcome to stroll on car-free streets and enjoy shopping, food and entertainment for all ages.

Getting to Open Streets: West Walnut

If you’re going to check out the Open Streets, SEPTA is a great way to ensure you arrive on time. 15th St/City Hall Station is a convenient choice that brings you within a couple of blocks of the event. The station is served by the [L] Market-Frankford Line, the [B] Broad Street Line, and the [T] trolley lines – and it is a short walk from Regional Rail stations in Center City.

If you’re taking PATCO into Philadelphia from New Jersey, riders can exit PATCO at 15th/16th Street & Locust Street Station. Take the escalator or stairs to concourse level, exit PATCO’s fare gates and follow signs to exit to street level.

Riders can also utilize plan.septa.org for real-time planning to and from the Walnut Street Open Street event.

Road Closures

To facilitate the event, 18th Street from Locust to Chestnut and Walnut Street from Broad to 19th will be blocked off to traffic, which will impact SEPTA’s bus service until 6 pm. The full list of affected routes is below; for specific details on the detours, please visit SEPTA’s Alerts and Detours page.

Parking Pro Tip

Download the SEPTA Park app before you head out. All SEPTA lots and garages charge for daily-use parking—this includes nights and weekends. Payment must be made using the SEPTA Park app, via text or at the kiosks. To avoid violations, please be sure you’ve paid for enough time. SEPTA allows overnight parking at most Regional Rail stations, [M] Norristown High Speed Line stations, and at Fern Rock TC and 69th St TC parking lots.

The SEPTA app allows you to think ahead with an integrated trip planner, view nearby stations and routes, save your favorite routes and much more; available to download in the App Store or Google Play Store.
