Bastille Day Block Party Bus Detours, July 12

Bastille Day commemorates the 1789 storming of the Bastille prison and is France’s national holiday, symbolizing liberty, unity and the beginning of the French Revolution. Philly will take part in the holiday with a block party hosted by The Good King Tavern featuring French food and drinks, live music, outdoor dining, cultural activities and festive street entertainment.

Getting to the Block Party

If you’re headed to the Bastille Day celebration, SEPTA is a great way to ensure you arrive on time. The Tavern is located at 614 S 7th St., about a 15-minute walk from Lombard-South Station on the B. There is a free transfer to the B from the L and Trolley routes at 15th Street/City Hall – and it is a short walk from Regional Rail stations in Center City.

If you’re taking PATCO into Philadelphia from New Jersey, riders can take the B to travel to the block party. Exit PATCO at 12th-13th St Station. Take the escalator or stairs to concourse level, exit PATCO’s fare gates and follow signs to exit to street level. Head north on S 13th Street toward St. James Street, then left onto Walnut Street. SEPTA’s Walnut-Locust Station is on the corner of Broad & Walnut streets.
