Fairmount/Art Museum Area

Philadelphia County

Resting just beyond Benjamin Franklin Parkway and home to Philly’s truly world-class museums—Fairmount is synonymous with fine art but it’s far from the only draw of Center City’s effusive northern neighbor. Referred to as the “Art Museum Area” due to its walking-distance access to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Franklin Institute, Rodin, and Barnes Foundation—Fairmount possesses a distinct personality that thrives independent of those hallowed halls.

How to Get There

The Greater Art Museum Area is serviced by a number of Routes including Bus Routes 49, the T, and the B.

The G runs along Girard Avenue stopping at most corners between Broad Street and Fairmount Park.

The B runs along Broad St with stops at Spring Garden Street, Fairmount Avenue, and Girard Avenue.

For Bus service between Fairmount Park and 21st St—Take Routes 7, 32, 48, or 49.

For service between 21st St and Broad St—ride Routes 2 or 33. Route 38 stops at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
