System Safety

SEPTA’s goal for our customers and employees is to provide the most pleasant and safe travel experience every time you ride on our system. SEPTA’s System Safety division is a cohesive team of safety officers that is divided into four (4) divisions: Operational, Accident Investigation and Prevention (API), Environmental/Occupational and Construction Safety.

Having a comprehensive safety plan is a priority for this division. We perform audits, inspections, and report all incidents for your well-being. SEPTA’s hours of operation are 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. During hours of operation, our team is making sure everyone on our properties and transit system is safe and secure.

It’s important that our safety culture at SEPTA remains strong and we look out for the best interest of our employees as well as our customers. In Safety Communications, we provide safety education presentations and literature to neighboring schools from Operation Lifesaver, as well as partnerships with the Philadelphia Fire Department for Fire Prevention Week every October. Be on the lookout for our safety mascot, Paws, when he takes a ride on our Safety Education Bus. Lastly, it is our responsibility as well as yours to never be too busy for safety.
