T Weekend Shuttle Busing for Substation Repairs

PHILADELPHIA (August 26, 2026) – SEPTA will fully bus all five T trolley lines over four weekends through the end of September to accommodate power substation repairs.

The substation powers the Trolley Tunnel and the trolley diversion route. The repairs are necessary due to recent water intrusion. SEPTA’s goal is to avoid unplanned service disruptions by addressing the work during these planned weekend outages.

Buses will service the same stops as the trolley routes. Riders can transfer to the L at 40th and Market Streets for eastbound service to Center City, and from the L to buses at 40th and Market for westbound service.

The tunnel will close at 2 am on Saturdays, with a gradual transition to busing overnight. All five T lines will be fully bused from 5 am Saturday until 5 am Monday on the following weekends:

  • Saturday, August 29 to Monday, August 31
  • Saturday, September 12 to Monday, September 14
  • Saturday, September 19 to Monday, September 21
  • Saturday, September 26 to Monday, September 28

On Monday mornings, some T4 and T5 trips continue to operate as a bus to 40th St Portal for select trips through the afternoon hours.

Riders are encouraged to allow for extra travel time.
