As part of an ongoing capital improvement project, crews will replace the cooling towers serving Suburban Station. The new structures will allow for better climate control, creating a more comfortable experience for people traveling and working in the station, as well as a better operating environment for equipment.
Project Location and Hours
The work takes place on the roof of 2 Penn Center Building; workers and machinery will be present in the surrounding area.
Work will begin around 6 pm on Friday, April 10 and should be complete by 6 am on Monday, April 13.

Impact on Area Traffic
JFK Blvd will be fully closed to traffic between 15th and 16th Streets for the duration of the weekend and should reopen by 6 am on Monday, April 13. This is necessary to accommodate the crane that crews will be using to undertake the work. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
Pedestrian access will be maintained; alternate routes may be necessary for safe travel and for entering buildings in the area. Pedestrians should check for posted signs.
The map illustrates where the work will occur and local businesses that may require alternate entrances.
