PHILADELPHIA (July 2, 2025) – As the Philadelphia region prepares for the upcoming 4th of July festivities, SEPTA is encouraging revelers to utilize public transportation for both convenience and safety to get to and from Independence Day events. On July 4th, all SEPTA modes of transit will operate on a Sunday schedule, however, SEPTA will offer late-night service on SEPTA Metro and select Regional Rail lines to accommodate 4th of July revelers.
“We want everyone to have a great holiday and celebrate responsibly, and the best way to do that is by using public transportation to get to and from your destination,” said General Manager, Scott A. Sauer. “SEPTA has great options for travel throughout the day and extra service for the big nighttime celebration.”
Extra Metro Service on July 4-5
Ten extra [B2] Broad Street Express trains will depart Fern Rock Transit Center every 10 minutes from 6:10 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 4.
Three extra [L] Market-Frankford Line trains will provide service from 6 p.m. until the conclusion of the concert and fireworks.
Extra Late Night Regional Rail Service on July 4-5
In addition to the extra service on the on the B, and L, late night train service will be added to the following Regional Rail lines after the Ben Franklin Parkway fireworks display on July 4.
