If you haven’t heard of Rex Manning before, it’s time for a viewing of the cult classic movie “Empire Records”! April 8 marks the date that the fictional pop star made his promotional appearance at the titular Records store, and since then, celebrating Rex Manning has become an annual tradition among lovers of 1990s pop culture.
Getting to the Block Party
If you’re headed to the Rex Manning Day party, SEPTA is a great way to ensure you arrive on time. It takes place at South Street’s Art Mart in the Society Hill neighborhood.
Bus Routes 12, 40 and 42 offer stops nearby; you can also use plan.septa.org for real-time trip planning.
Road Closures
To facilitate the event, 4th Street from South to Lombard Streets will be blocked off to traffic, which will impact SEPTA’s bus service until 9 pm. The full list of affected routes is below; for specific details on the detours, please visit SEPTA’s Alerts and Detours page.
