Philadelphia Water Department Main Replacements to Affect 40 Bus, Aug. 14-17

The Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) is installing new water mains to improve the delivery of clean drinking water across the city. The project will make water service more reliable and help prevent emergency repairs.

Project Location and Hours

The work will take place along South St. and connecting streets in Queen Village. More specifically, these streets will be impacted:

  • S 2nd St. from Lombard St. to South St.
  • S 3rd St. from Lombard St. to Gaskill St.
  • Hancock St. from Gaskill St. to South St.
  • Kater St. from S. Hancock St. to S. Howard St and from S. 5th St. to S. 6th St.
  • Lombard St. from S. Front St. to S. 2nd St.
  • South St. from Front St. to S. 8th St.

Impact on Riders

The Route 40 bus will be detoured continuously beginning 8 pm on Friday, August 14, through 6 am on Monday, August 17. Check for posted signs. Check SEPTA’s Alerts and Detours page for travel information or call Customer Service at 215-580-7800.
