Hoyu Chinese Folk Festival Bus Detours & Road Closures, Mar. 29

This weekend, people will gather in Chinatown to celebrate the birthday of General Humin, who is revered by many from the coastal Fujian Province of China for providing it with protection and prosperity during the 10th century. Some of General Humin’s accomplishments included opening ports to strengthen trade and building new schools. This festival in his honor involves prayers, parades and fireworks.

Getting to the Festival

If you’re headed to the event, SEPTA is a great way to ensure you arrive on time. Chinatown has its own station on the [B3]; if you’re traveling on the [L], 8th-Market Station is also convenient.

If you’re taking PATCO into Philadelphia from New Jersey, exit PATCO at 8th/Market Street Station. Those coming from out of town on SEPTA Regional Rail will want to exit at Jefferson Station.

Road Closures

To facilitate the parades, 10th Street from Arch to Cherry Streets will be blocked off to traffic, which will impact SEPTA’s bus service until 3 pm. The full list of affected routes is below; for specific details on the detours, please visit SEPTA’s Alerts and Detours page.
