Greek Independence Day Parade Bus Detours, Apr. 26

Greek Independence Day marks Greece’s fight for independence from Ottoman rule. It serves as a public commemoration of Greek history and identity and brings together members of the Greek community while offering an opportunity for all to learn about Greek history and its customs.

In Philadelphia, the day is celebrated with a parade on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway with festive floats and banners that reflect Greece and Greek Americans’ rich culture, including traditional dances, religious performances and local Hellenic clubs.

Getting to the Parade

If you’re headed to the parade, SEPTA is a great way to ensure you arrive on time. A convenient choice is 22nd Street Station, served by the [T]. From there, it’s just a 15-minute walk to reach the Parkway. If you’ll be coming from out of town on Regional Rail, you’ll want to exit at either William H. Gray III 30th Street Station or Suburban Station.

You can also use plan.septa.org for real-time trip planning to and from the parade.
