Notice to Customers with Student, Senior, Paratransit & Reduced Fare Cards

SEPTA continues its efforts to resolve a card production issue that is causing some student, senior, paratransit and reduced fare passes to be declined at turnstiles, bus fareboxes and Regional Rail readers. We want to assure all impacted customers that frontline employees are actively assisting affected riders to make sure they can access all SEPTA services without disruption while a fix is developed. Customers do not need to replace their valid cards, and SEPTA would ask that they please hold off on requests for replacement cards at this time.

This issue is not impacting customers who use standard SEPTA Key cards or contactless payments methods, including credit cards, debit cards and Apple and Google Pay. All transactions for customers who use those methods of payment are continuing as normal. The problem impacting some student, senior, paratransit and reduced card customers is due to an incorrect expiration date assigned to certain cards.

SEPTA apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause for customers. All SEPTA frontline personnel are aware of the problem, and are ready to assist our customers as we work through this problem.

We will keep riders informed as more information becomes available and when the issue is resolved.

For more information or additional assistance, customers should contact SEPTA Customer Service 215-580-7800 or Access 215-580-7145.
