For the second year in a row the Québec government office in New York, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), and the City of Philadelphia, will partner on the second Smart and Sustainable Mobility Showcase. The event will take place on Monday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic Navy Yard in South Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation will host the event for the first time. Open to both the public and industry professionals, the event promises a deep dive into cutting-edge innovations shaping the future of transportation, technology, and equipment.
“After the success of last year’s event, we are excited to once again partner with the City of Philadelphia and the Québec government office in New York to highlight innovations driving sustainability in the transportation industry,” said SEPTA General Manager and CEO Leslie S. Richards. “Cultivating these relationships locally aids in achieving the goals outlines in SEPTA Forward, while keeping the Authority at the forefront of innovation and technology in the transit industry.”
More than 20 cutting-edge companies from Québec, Canada, will showcase the latest innovations in transportation, technology and equipment and for the first time, the City of Philadelphia will display vehicles from their own fleet. Participants can expect to see a variety of vehicles, equipment, innovative technologies and solutions, including battery electric transit buses, electric school buses and street sweepers, all designed to reduce emissions and support the Philadelphia region’s climate objectives.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with our esteemed partners in Philadelphia for this year’s Smart and Sustainable Mobility Showcase. Québec and Philadelphia share mutual ambitions in the fight against climate change. We are also proud to see Québec’s businesses showcase what they can offer as solutions and share best practices that contribute to our mutual goals in developing greener economies. This event is a fantastic example of what we can achieve together in building a more sustainable future,” said Martine Hébert, Québec Government’s Delegate General in New York.
Notably, the showcase will feature technology companies specializing in AI, safety, data for transit authorities, and fleet managers.
The Smart and Sustainable Mobility Showcase aims to build relationships that can spur investment and job creation in Philadelphia. Participants will have the unique opportunity to connect and network with industry leaders, government officials, and other professionals in the field. The event also serves as a platform for learning more about smart and sustainable solutions that can support the City of Philadelphia and SEPTA in their efforts to transition to a more digital and sustainable future.
“The City of Philadelphia is committed to advancing the Parker Administrations goal of a clean, green and safe transportation that promotes economic opportunity for all. We are excited to showcase cutting edge sustainable mobility options and explore innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life in our communities,” said Michael Carroll, Deputy Managing Director, Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability. “Our second Smart and Sustainable Mobility Showcase on Monday, May 13, 2024 will bolster the connections and global partnerships that spur investment and employment in Philadelphia. This incredible forum sets the stage for realizing our joint aspiration for robust and eco-conscious social and economical frameworks across our region.”
The City of Philadelphia’s Department of Fleet Services shares the following mission: “The Department of Fleet Services (DFS) ensures that City vehicles and other automotive equipment are available, dependable, and safe to operate so that City departments and agencies can deliver services.
