Mummers Day Parade Bus Detours and Road Closures

The 2026 Mummers Day Parade begins at 9 am, Thursday, January 1, 2026. Below is a summary of SEPTA bus detours and road closures that will be in effect for the duration of the parade.

To get to the parade using SEPTA, ride Regional Rail to Suburban Station, the [L] Market-Frankford Line to 15th St/City Hall Station, or the [B] Broad Street Line to 15th St/City Hall, Walnut-Locust or Lombard-South stations.

Riders can utilize plan.septa.org for real-time planning to and from the Mummers Parade.

SEPTA Bus Route Detours

SEPTA Bus Routes 2, 4, 7, 9, 12, 16, 17, 21, 27, 31, 32, 33, 38, 40, 42, 44, 45, 48, 49, 64, 124, 125, B1 Owl and L1 Owl will be detoured from their normal routes beginning as early as 2 am through 11:59 pm on Thursday, January 1.

Impact on Area Traffic 

Streets will be closed in many parts of Center City to accommodate the parade route. Traffic delays can be expected. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes, avoid areas along the parade route, allow for extra driving time and proceed with caution.   

Additional detours could be added throughout the day due to unscheduled road closures.  

New Year’s Day Modified Service Schedules 

On New Year’s Day, Regional Rail, Metro and buses operate on a Sunday schedule. Bus route 204 does not run on New Year’s Day. All modes will resume regular weekday schedules start of service day, Friday, January 2.
