Coming to a Station Near You: The SEPTA Philabundance Bus

SEPTA's Eighth Annual Food Drive Runs June 6-20

SEPTA’s specially wrapped Philabundance bus is heading to SEPTA Regional Rail stations and Transportation Centers throughout the Greater Philadelphia region June 6-20 to collect donations of canned foods for the authority’s eighth annual “Stop Hunger at Your Station” drive. The drive, which supports Philabundance and its agencies, runs June 6-20.

The “Stop Hunger at Your Station” SEPTA bus schedule is:

  • Monday, June 6: Cornwells Heights Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 am, and SEPTA Center City Philadelphia Headquarters at 1234 Market Street, 2-5 pm
  • Tuesday, June 7: Media Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 am, and 69th Street Transportation Center North Terminal, 3-6 pm
  • Wednesday, June 8: Woodbourne Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 am, and Olney Transportation Center, 3-6 pm
  • Thursday, June 9: FOX Philadelphia Studios, 4th and Market Streets, 6-9 am, and King of Prussia Transportation Center, 3-6 pm
  • Friday, June 10: Jenkintown Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 am, and Ogontz Loop, 3-6 pm
  • Monday, June 13: Doylestown Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 am, and Frankford Transportation Center, 3-6 pm
  • Tuesday, June 14: Swarthmore Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 am, and 69th Street Transportation Center South Terminal, 3-6 pm
  • Wednesday, June 15: Bryn Mawr Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 am, and Frankford Transportation Center, 3-6 pm
  • Thursday, June 16: Norristown Transportation Center, 6:30-9 am, and University City Regional Rail Station, 3-6 pm
  • Friday, June 17: Glenside Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 am, and Bethlehem Bus Loop/Chestnut Hill East Station, 3-6 pm
  • Monday, June 20: Willow Grove Regional Rail Station, 6:30-9 am, and Warminster Regional Rail Station, 3-6 pm
  • The bus will be in regular service for passengers on the Route 17 bus on Saturday, June 11, and Saturday, June 18, and on the Route 45 bus on Sunday, June 12, and Sunday, June 19.

Customers can also drop off donations of canned and boxed goods in marked barrels at 43 designated locations throughout the transit system (a list of locations can be found at https://www.septa.org/events/philabundance.html). CCT customers wishing to participate will be able to give their canned good contributions to their vehicle operator. Philabundance is especially in need of:

  • Canned or shelf stabilized tuna
  • Canned pasta
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned beef ravioli
  • Creamy peanut butter (plastic containers only, please)
  • Jelly (plastic containers only, please)
  • Cereal
  • Oatmeal

The public can make a donation to Philabundance online to help feed neighbors in need. Any monetary contribution will count toward the total collected through the SEPTA 2016 campaign. In 2015, SEPTA’s customers and employees contributed the equivalent of 29,000 meals for Philabundance and its member agencies. Since 2009, SEPTA customers and employees have donated the equivalent of more than 214,400 meals.

Philabundance provides food to approximately 90,000 people every week in nine counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In 2015, Philabundance distributed 30 million pounds of food across the Delaware Valley.
