SEPTA employs more than 2,400 bus operators who drive our region forward day and night, week and weekend, through holidays and routine days. We stand behind our operators to ensure they feel safe – and are safe – in their work environment and are able to do their jobs effectively. From installing cameras and GPS technology to enforcing safety and protective policies, we prioritize the safety, security and well-being of our operators at every turn.
- Buses are equipped with cameras for the safety of bus operators and riders.
- Clear signage on buses articulates SEPTA’s safety policies and expectations of riders and that we will prosecute to the full extent of the law to protect our operators.
- GPS location trackers are installed on every SEPTA bus to keep track of the entire fleet at all times.
- Transit Police regularly ride and monitor buses to protect and ensure the safety of bus operators and riders.
- SEPTA provides safety and escalation training to all operators so they are prepared and equipped in the event of an emergency.
- Coming soon – Buses will soon be equipped with operator protective barriers.
