Tuesday, March 18, 2025 is Transit Employee Appreciation Day.
When it comes to getting people where they need to go—transit employees can all agree—teamwork makes the dream work.
Let’s face it transit employees especially Operators, Engineers, and Conductors don’t have an easy job. For hours on end these men and women work to keep a schedule, check fares, give directions, announce stops, assist passengers, and more. All while safely maneuvering an extra-large vehicle through unpredictable traffic, detours, tough weather conditions, and some really tight spaces!
They are responsible for providing a critical service to our community—making it possible for people to get to jobs, schools, childcare, grocery stores, doctors visits, sporting events, and everywhere in between!
We appreciate everything they do to keep us moving and we must not forget that they are also mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, movie watchers, world travelers, home schoolers, Eagles fans, chefs, gardeners, shoe lovers, and more. They also rely on the system and their colleagues to get them where they need to go.
Please keep transit employees in mind when you are riding this week/month/year [or any day/week/month/year]. And please remember to say “thank you” when you board or exit a bus, trolley, or train.
Because a little appreciation can go a long way.
