The SEPTA Transit Police Department has a number of activities planned to help mark National Night Out, America’s Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 4th, 2009.
Families are invited to attend festivities at SEPTA Transit Police Headquarters, located at 11th Street and Nedro Avenue, from 6 pm. To 8 pm
The event gives the community a chance to meet law enforcement officers from SEPTA, as well as other local, state and federal agencies.
National Night Out is an annual event aimed at strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community, in an effort to enhance crime prevention efforts. SEPTA’s festivities coincide with similar events around the country.
Those attending SEPTA’s National Night Out event should also be ready for some summer fun. There will be plenty of food, including hamburgers and hot dogs, along with activities such as face painting. Among the guests of honor will be everyone’s favorite pet detective, “McGruff The Crime Dog,” and his nephew, “Scruff.”
National Night Out is just one example of the community outreach done by the SEPTA Transit Police Department aimed at improving crime prevention.
