SEPTA Offers Additional Service For New Year’s Eve Revelers

Trips TAdded on Regional Rail, Market-Frankford Line & Broad Street Line; Bus Detours Set to Accommodate Mummers Parade

Those traveling to Penn’s Landing, New York City’s Times Square, and many points in-between to ring in 2014 can take advantage of extended SEPTA late-night New Year’s Eve Regional Rail service to return home from the celebrations. There will also be extra service on the Broad Street and Market-Frankford Lines to accommodate revelers.

For those returning home from Center City after New Year’s Eve celebrations, extra late-night service will be available on Regional Rail to Trenton, Media/Elwyn, Malvern, Chestnut Hill West, Warminster, West Trenton, Lansdale, Manayunk/Norristown, Fox Chase, Chestnut Hill East and Marcus Hook. The late night trains are scheduled to depart following the midnight fireworks display at Penn’s Landing.

Also, after watching the ball drop in Times Square, passengers taking early morning New Jersey Transit trains can connect with SEPTA at the Trenton Transportation Center. SEPTA trains will depart from Trenton early Wednesday morning at 3:30 am, 5 am and 6 am

Revelers can also choose Market-Frankford and Broad Street Line service to get home from New Year’s Eve events. Train service will be available from all stations until 1 am, with night-owl bus service available overnight. Additional trains on both routes will be on standby for passengers leaving both the 7 pm and midnight fireworks displays at Penn’s Landing.

In addition to extended late night service for New Year’s Eve, the following holiday service adjustments will be in place on New Year’s Day:

– All Regional Rail Lines will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day. Extra cars will be added to trains for Mummers Parade attendees.

– A number of buses that operate on and around the parade route on Broad Street, from Oregon Avenue to City Hall, will be on detour. Detours are scheduled on routes 2, 4, 7, 9, 12, 16, 17, 21, 23, 27, 29, 31, 32, 33, 37, 38, 42, 44, 48, 64, 68, 79, 124, 125 and G. Additional detours may be added if necessary.
