Average daily ridership in November 2024 was 762,673 unlinked passenger trips across all modes.
System-wide ridership in November 2024 was 73% of pre-COVID November 2019 ridership.
To date – October 2024 experienced the highest total ridership since the start of the pandemic and August 2024 experienced the highest recovery rate.
System-wide ridership increased 10% relative to November 2023. On average there were 72,004 more trips per day in November 2024 compared to November 2023. This is based on the calendar month.
The recovery rates for Bus and Metro are down slightly however year over year total ridership growth continues to be robust with double digit percentage growth.
Apart from bus – all modes have experienced double digit ridership growth this month.
Bus Ridership continues to experience steady year over year growth. Bus ridership has increased 4% relative to November 2023.
The five routes with the highest recovery rates include Route 49 (118%), Route 107 (103%), Route 120 (99%), Route 42 (97%), and Route 21 (94%).
Twelve (12) routes have a recovery rate that exceeds 90% including two (2) routes that have higher ridership than this time in 2019.
Of the 28 routes with a recovery rate of 85% or greater – thirteen (13) routes are based out of Victory Division. Victory Division Recovery rate stands at 83% – the highest since the start of the pandemic.
City recovery = 77%

Bus ridership recovery has been more robust on the weekends. Ridership has also steadily grown throughout the day. Ridership has increased 12% on Saturdays and 11% on Sundays. Ridership during the 1PM, 2PM, 3PM, 7PM, and 8PM hours have the strongest recovery rates.
Metro ridership increased 20% relative to this time last year. It is the highest since the start of the pandemic indicating that our cleaning and security efforts are paying off.
Broad Street Line [B], Market-Frankford Line [L], and Norristown High Speed Line [M] ridership has grown 22%. Ridership is at 69% of pre-pandemic levels.
Trackless Trolley ridership (Routes 59, 66, 75) has grown 24% relative to November 2023.
Trolley Ridership has grown 11% or 5,589 unlinked trips relative to November 2023. Weekend trolley ridership recovery has been stronger than weekdays. Ridership has increased 16% on
Saturdays and Sundays. The G (15) has a recovery rate of 104%, T routes (10, 11, 13, 34, 36) have a recovery rate of 63%, and D routes (101, 102) have a recovery rate of 68%.
Regional Rail Ridership has experienced strong growth over the past year. In November average daily ridership increased 12% relative to this time last year.
Ridership typically declines in November and December relative to October due to colder weather and the holidays.
