Ridership: July 2025

Average daily ridership in July 2025 was 669,203 unlinked passenger trips across all modes. 

System-wide ridership in July 2025 increased 4% from July 2024. On average there were 28,788 more trips per day in July 2025 compared to July 2024. The growth is largely driven by B, L, Bus, and Regional Rail.

SEPTA Metro ridership expanded by 5%—an increase of 11,340 average weekday trips—relative to July 2024. Ridership on the B and L continues to outpace system-wide growth. It is important to note ridership for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Soccer tournament was included in the June data.

Trolley ridership remained roughly the same compared to this time last year—decreasing by only 1% or 540 unlinked trips per weekday. Ridership typically declines in July due to the Trolley Tunnel Closure which this year ran from July 11 thru August 10.

The G experienced strong ridership growth this month with a 23% increase in weekday ridership.

Regional Rail ridership grew by 9% with approximately 81,331 unlinked trips per weekday which is roughly 6,631 additional passengers relative to this time last year. 

Weekday bus ridership increased by 3% or approximately 10,680 unlinked trips relative to this time last year. Weekend ridership growth is slightly outpacing growth on weekdays. Saturday ridership has increased 4% and Sunday ridership has increased by 7%.

The five routes with the strongest year over year growth by total number of trips are Route 23 (1,308), Route 21 (794), Route 47 (748), Route 2 (711), and Route 29 (585).

The five routes with the strongest year over year growth by percent change are Route 62 (40%), Route 35 (36%), Route 29 (25%), Route L1 OWL (24%), and Route 47M (20%).

July is typically the lowest ridership month of the calendar year. Ridership is down relative to May and June however this is an annual occurrence.
