Did you know SEPTA has a Lost & Found department to help reunite passengers with misplaced items across all modes of service?
Items found on SEPTA vehicles or property are turned in by SEPTA employees at the end of each service day. All recovered items are logged and tagged with identifying details such as the route, vehicle number (when available), location found, date, and the employee name and account number. Staff also document identifying characteristics, categorize the item by type, and then store it in a secured inventory area accessible only to authorized personnel.
SEPTA staff will attempt to notify the customer if an item contains contact information so it can be retrieved.
Most items are retained for 30 calendar days. Perishable items—including food—cannot be stored for safety and sanitation reasons.
Report lost items as soon as possible and be prepared to provide a detailed description, including the route or line, direction of travel, vehicle number (if known), location, and approximate time the item was lost. This information helps staff narrow searches and identify potential matches as items move through the system.
Some of staff’s most memorable finds include bikes, breathing machines, a weedwacker, bear mace, walkers and wheelchairs, college diplomas and gowns, medical equipment, and a license plate.
Regional Rail Lost & Found
Lost items found on Regional Rail property including trains, stations, platforms, parking areas, waiting rooms, yards, and crew facilities are turned into the Passenger Services Office in Suburban Station.
If a Regional Rail crew completes service outside of Center City and cannot return directly to Suburban Station then lost items are placed in a secure yard office or designated crew facility until they can be transferred to the Passenger Services Office at Suburban Station.
Customers looking for lost items may contact Passenger Services at 215-580-5740 or visit the Passenger Services Office at Suburban Station on weekdays from 7AM to 3PM.
