The 70th annual Archbishop’s Benefit for Children Christmas Party is hosted by Catholic Charities of Philadelphia. The event celebrates and supports thousands of children across the Greater Philadelphia area who benefit from Catholic Charities’ programs. The party is part of a year-round fundraising effort to sustain programs serving children of all faiths, including those with disabilities and at-risk youth.
Getting to the Christmas Party
If you’re headed to the party, SEPTA is a great way to ensure you arrive on time. The Archdiocese is located at 222 North 17th Street, just a 10-minute walk from Race-Vine Station on the [B] Broad Street Line. There is a free transfer to the [B] Broad Street Line from the [L] Market-Frankford Line and Trolley routes at 15th Street/City Hall – and it is a short walk from Regional Rail stations in Center City.
If you’re taking PATCO into Philadelphia from New Jersey, riders can take the [B] Broad Street Line to travel to the Christmas party. Exit PATCO at 12th/13th & Locust Street Station. Take the escalator or stairs to concourse level, exit PATCO’s fare gates and follow signs to exit to street level. Head north on S 13th Street toward St. James Street, then left onto Walnut Street. SEPTA’s Walnut-Locust Station is on the corner of Broad & Walnut streets.
Road Closures
To facilitate the event, 17th Street between Vine and Race Streets will be blocked off to traffic, which will impact SEPTA’s bus service until 4 pm. The full list of affected routes is below; for specific details on the detours, please visit SEPTA’s Alerts and Detours page.
