SMOKE-FREE SEPTA

SEPTA’s number one concern will always be YOUR safety.

We are committed to delivering safe, reliable, and accessible service. Smoking or vaping tobacco and other substances on SEPTA property is prohibited.

Whether you are traveling to a game, work or to visit your family – we all deserve a smoke and vape-free ride. But unfortunately some individuals choose to ignore the rules.

Non-compliance can result in legal consequences and fines for those involved. Non-compliant are now subject to City of Philadelphia Code Violation Notices and fines of up to $100.

Secondhand smoke can negatively impact the health of other passengers – including children, the elderly, and people with serious medical issues.

Smoking on the system can also:

⭕️ Increase the risk of children starting to smoke or vape

⭕️ Increase the risk of fire incidents – putting passengers and employees in danger

⭕️ Increase the amount of litter

⭕️ Increase maintenance costs for cleaning caused by residue

⭕️ Create an unpleasant travel environment

Non-compliance with SEPTA’s Smoke-Free Policy is strictly enforced by SEPTA Transit Police.

Non-compliant individuals are subject to City of Philadelphia Code Violation Notices and fines of up to $100.

Report any smoking in a station and/or on a vehicle anonymously by texting SEPTA Transit Police at 215-234-1911 or by using the SEPTA Transit Watch App.

The SEPTA Transit Watch app – available for IOS and Android – lets you report incidents in seconds. Watch this.

The more we know when and where violations occur – the more we can do to keep SEPTA a smoke-free transit environment.
