Fairmount/Art Museum Area
Resting just beyond Benjamin Franklin Parkway and home to Philly’s truly world-class museums, Fairmount is synonymous with fine art – but it’s far from the only draw of Center City’s effusive northern neighbor. Referred to as the “Art Museum Area” due to its walking-distance access to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Franklin Institute, Rodin and Barnes Foundation – Fairmount possesses a distinct personality that thrives independent of those hallowed halls.
How to Get There
The Greater Art Museum Area is serviced by a number of Bus Routes including Route 49, Trolley Lines, and the Broad Street Line. The Route 15 Trolley runs along Girard Avenue stopping at most corners between Broad Street and Fairmount Park. The Broad Street Line runs along Broad Street with stops at Spring Garden Street, Fairmount Avenue and Girard Avenue. For Bus service between Fairmount Park and 21st Street – hop Routes 7, 32, 48 or 49. For service between 21st Street and Broad Street – hop Routes 2 or 33.
