Chestnut Hill

Philadelphia County

Chestnut Hill – just 25 minutes from Center City Philadelphia, is a picturesque National Register Historic District. Nestled near Wissahickon and Cresheim creeks, it’s rich in greenery and historic charm. Once a summer retreat for the wealthy – it became a year-round community with the arrival of 19th-century railroads. The area is known for its historic mansions, Victorian homes, and hidden gems like the Morris Arboretum.

Germantown Avenue – the main street – is lined with cobblestone streets, historic facades, shops, galleries, and restaurants, creating a lively yet quaint village atmosphere.

How to Get There

The SEPTA Chestnut Hill West Regional Rail Line stops at the top of “the Hill” on Germantown Avenue. The Chestnut Hill East station is located at 101 E. Chestnut Hill Avenue. SEPTA Bus Routes 23, 77, 94, 134 and L also run in the neighborhood.
