FAQ

Because the app was completely redesigned from the ground up, riders’ previously-saved Favorites could not be transferred to the new app. The new functionality and improved design gives you more ways to add favorites, including:

  • Favorite a Trip: Plan a trip using the Trip Planner (“Where to?”) and tap any trip result. Tap the “Favorite” button in the bottom left and give your trip a name (e.g. “Morning Commute”) and the origin/destination pair for your trip will be saved as a Favorite. When you tap this Favorite trip from your Favorites tab, it will show you all your options to complete this journey, and allow you to compare them in real time.
  • Favorite a Schedule: In the Schedules tab, choose a Route, a Direction, a starting and (optional) ending station, then tap the heart in the top right. When you tap this Favorite from your Favorites tab, it will show you the current scheduled and real-time departures on this specific route, between these specific stops/stations.
  • Favorite a Stop/Station: From the “Nearby” tab of the home screen, select a stop/station in the list below the map, or expand the map to tap a station. Not near the station? Search for it in Schedules using the “Search by…” field at the top of the screen. From the station page, tap the heart in the top right. When you tap this Favorite from your Favorites tab, it will show you the next departures from this stop/station, for all routes.

The Schedule results screen provides a similar view to the old “Next-to-Arrive” tab with upcoming departures. This interface shows more information to riders including past trips and previous stops of a trip.

To quickly access all trip options between any two stations regardless of line/route, you can favorite a trip plan between two stations (see “Favorite a Trip” above). Note that you can set mode preferences (e.g. Regional Rail only) when you do a Trip Planner search, and these preferences will hold for the Favorite you save for that trip.

You can also favorite a stop/station (see “Favorite a Stop/Station” above) to see all departures in all directions from that station.

Live vehicle tracking on a map can be found in multiple places within the new app.

  • From the Nearby tab of the home screen, tap a stop or station that serves the route you are looking for, and all routes serving that stop will immediately show up on the map, with real-time vehicle tracking. This is currently the best option to see multiple routes on the map at once.
  • From the Schedules tab, select a route, direction and origin stop/station, tap view schedule and then tap the map button to see that route on the map.

From the Nearby tab of the home screen, tap Expand Map, then pan to move to another area. Tap Redo Search to see station/stop results in this new area.

If you cannot remember your SEPTA Key username, do not create a new account. You will not be able to register your old card with the new account. Please call the SEPTA Key Call Center at 1-855-567-3782 to retrieve your username. One you are logged in on the new app, you should stay logged in and should not have to retrieve your username again unless you log out.

The latest app automatically retrieves the latest schedule info – no more pop ups. To get an up-to-date departure time or location for the schedule or vehicle you’re looking at, just pull to refresh or tap the refresh button on that screen. The app does not currently automatically refresh the data, but we are working to include that in a future update.
