Preview SEPTA’s New Mobile App!

SEPTA is welcoming riders to participate in the Beta release of our new mobile app. “Beta” refers to pre-release testing performed by a small group of users out in the real world. The purpose of this beta is to involve you, our riders, in the development process before the app is released to all of SEPTA’s customers. Improvements and updates will be made to the app based on feedback from riders in the beta phase before the app is released.

How to Download the Beta App

During this phase, you must opt-in to test the new SEPTA Mobile App as it will not be automatically available in the Apple or Google Play stores. You will need to follow a few steps to get the new app onto your phone.

Note: You cannot have both the current SEPTA app and the new beta SEPTA app on your phone at the same time. The new beta app requires iOS 16 or Android 7 (API Level 24) in order to install.

Apple uses a product called TestFlight to manage efforts like this one. To test, please follow these instructions.

  • Tap the access link for iOS.
  • If TestFlight is installed, the link will open the app on your device and allow you to install the beta app as seen below:
  • If TestFlight is not installed, the link will open a webpage with instructions to download TestFlight as seen below:
  • Once TestFlight is installed, simply open it and tap through the introductory screens until you reach a screen with the option to install the SEPTA beta app, as seen in step 2 above.
  • Once installed, you can open the beta app from TestFlight or your home screen as seen below:
  • If at any time during the beta period you wish to stop participating, you may return to the App store to download the old version.

Google uses the Play Store to manage beta programs like this one. To test, please follow these instructions.

  • Tap “Join.”
  • Tap “Join” again, and wait. A message saying “Joining Beta” will be shown while your device is added.
  • Once complete, you can tap “Update” at the top of the screen.
  • You’ll receive a prompt to update your existing app (if installed) to the beta version. Tap through to begin the installation process as seen below:
  • Launch the new app from your home screen and begin testing.
  • If at any time during the beta period you wish to stop participating, you may return to the Google Play Store and “Leave” the Beta program as seen below.

How to Provide Feedback

Your feedback is important to us and will help identify important changes needed before a general launch. While we are unable to respond individually to every piece of feedback, rest assured that any suggestions you make will be logged, reviewed and assessed for incorporation into the app.

When providing feedback:

  • Please include a screenshot if possible.
  • Please include the steps taken to arrive at the screen being referenced.
  • Please provide relevant details like route, stop, Key Card ID, and username.

From within the SEPTA beta app:

  • Take a screenshot while using the beta app.
  • Tap the screenshot thumbnail in the bottom left of the screen.
  • Tap the Share button on the top right.
  • Then “Share Beta Feedback…” as seen below:

Or you can enter the TestFlight app at any time and tap “Send Beta Feedback.”

From a browser: Visit the feedback form and share your comments.

From your mobile device:

  • Go to the Google Play Store.
  • Find the SEPTA app.
  • Tap “Write Feedback” under “Private feedback to developer” as seen below:
