Eastbound Exit Stair Closed at Market-Frankford Line’s Girard Station

Crews will renovate the Girard Station eastbound exit stairs to improve safety, security and cleanliness at the exit. At the completion of this project, the fare line will be relocated from platform level to street level and the stairs will be enclosed. Similar exit improvements were completed at York-Dauphin, Tioga and Somerset stations.

Bus service is not impacted.

Project Locations and Hours

The work takes place at Girard Station (1200 N. Front Street) from April 1 through October 31, 2024.

Normal construction hours are Monday – Friday, 7 am to 2 pm. However, there may be weekdays where crews work past 2 pm. Occasional weekend work may also be needed to maintain the project’s timeline.

Impact on Riders

The eastbound exit stairs at Girard Station closes following the last train on March 29 through the duration of construction.

Bus service is not impacted.

Impact on Pedestrians

The sidewalk on Front Street is closed for the duration of construction.
