30th to Kay Overhead Catenary System (OCS) Replacement Project

William H. Gray III 30th Street Station to Mantua Ave. & 37th Street

Crews will replace the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) (train electrification), along with other infrastructure improvements. The replacement should result in increasing resiliency and reliability of SEPTA’s system, as well as increase SEPTA’s operation flexibility.

Improvements will be made to SEPTA’s four revenue operating tracks, Track 1 through Track 4, carrying service on the Paoli/Thorndale Line, Cynwyd Line, Chestnut Hill West Line, and the Trenton Line. There are also 17 yard tracks within Powelton Yard that will be improved; additional yard expansion tracks will aid construction. Infrastructure improvements will be made to repair original retaining walls through the project limits, along with drainage and repairs to the 36th Street tunnel.
