Reduced Weekday Service Along Chestnut Hill East Line Until April 27

On Monday, March 17, 2025, SEPTA crews began removing and replacing wood railroad ties along the Chestnut Hill East Line between Stenton Station and Chestnut Hill East Station. As a result of this track work, weekday service is reduced from 9 am to 4 pm (inbound & outbound) until April 27.

Impact on Riders

During construction, the Chestnut Hill East Line will operate on a single track, impacting service levels. Weekday train service operates every 2 hours from 9 am – 4 pm in both directions. Passengers should use the Chestnut Hill West Line or SEPTA Bus route 23 for alternative service.

Riders can refer to the Chestnut Hill East Line temporary PDF schedule during this project; a new timetable will be posted as construction nears completion, dated April 28, 2025.

Check SEPTA’s Alerts and Detours page for travel information or call Customer Service at 215-580-7800.

Project Location and Hours

The work will take place on the Chestnut Hill East Line from March 17 through April 27, 2025.

Work will be performed weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm. If necessary, work may also be performed overnights between 11 pm and 7 am and weekends between 6 am and 6 pm.

This project requires the use of track equipment; expect to hear typical machine noise, back-up alarms and banging. Overnight work will be noisy. Lighting will also be used in work areas.
