SEPTA crews are removing and replacing roughly 12,000 railroad ties along the Chestnut Hill East Line.
Project Location and Hours
The work will take place between just north of Wayne Junction and Chestnut Hill East.
Work will be performed weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm. Some overnight work (11 pm to 7 am) and weekend day work may also be needed.
Impact on Customers
During construction, the Chestnut Hill East Line will operate via a single track. Rail tie work should be completed by late December 2023.
Trains may operate with delays during these times. The project requires the use of track equipment, including tie inserters, tampers, regulators and spikers. Overnight work will be noisy. Expect to hear typical machine noise, back-up alarms and banging. Lighting will also be used in work areas.
